Vader's Sith Starfighter

This is a model of Anakin's Jedi Starfighter by AMT/ERTL painted as Vader's Sith Starfighter based on concept art I found online as well as shots of the toy version. I made this as a display piece for myself back in early 2008 and currently hang it from my ceiling in flight along with my other models.
I found the kit to be pretty good but with a few fit problems that were really frustrating. You'll see what I mean in the photos such as the way the halves of the droid don't line up or the top and bottoms of the hull don't meet. Otherwise I was pretty happy with how it turned out and liked the fact that the kit gives you optional parts to create each Jedi's different version of the Jedi Starfighter.
This was my first real shot at masking a clear canopy with masking tape and it didn't turn out as well as I hoped. I was using the blue Painter's tape you get at Walmart which I found difficult to use on a small scale model. This was also before I got my airbrushed so everything is entirely painted by hand. The decals were custom made using Testors decal paper and Photoshop.

Paints Used:
- Tamiya Acrylic Flat Black
- Tamiya Acrylic Chrome Silver
- Tamiya Acrylic Metallic Gray
- Tamiya Acrylic Clear Red
- Tamiya Acrylic Flat White
- Tamiya Acrylic Clear Blue

The ship was first completely painted Flat Black with Chrome Silver and Metallic Gray then used for certain panels and weathering. Black was also drybrushed on for weathering. The cockpit canopy is painted Clear Red on the inside. The engines were painted White on the inside and then covered in Clear Blue.
