G1 Protoform Optimus Prime
What can I say it's Protoform Optimus Prime done with Generation 1 colors! I thought about the movie styling and decided to try the old color scheme on his protoform, as if he had those colors on Cybertron or something corny like that. Maybe a passing of the torch from G1 Optimus to Movie Optimus? I don't know, you decide. Anyways, I also sculpted the face a bit to give him a more "Prime" appearance, expanding the faceplate and adding his circular "ears". Now that his head is a little bit wider is has to be turned slightly when pushed back to transform him, but as you can see from the photos he CAN be transformed. I also crafted an Energon Sword for him from a CD case and FIXIT sculpt. I used a 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime for reference when painting, as you will see in the photos..

- Testors Model Master Acryl Metallic Blue
- Testors Model Master Acryl Black
- Testors Model Master Acryl Guards Red
- Tamiya Acrylic Clear Blue
- Tamiya Acrylic Flat Aluminum
- Tamiya Acrylic Chrome Silver
Optimus was first basecoated in Flat Aluminum, washed in Black, then drybrushed in Chrome Silver. Next I set to coloring the top half in Turn Signal Red, with highlights in Guards Red. Then the lower half got Metallic Blue. Many more highlights were added with Chrome Silver and a few spots, including his eyes, are Clear Blue over the Chrome or White. His gun and blade were painted to match, of course.
